Use the filbert brush and thinned Ultramarine Blue to sketch pansy circle.
Add Liquid Opal with the 1" brush and background colors.
Use the filbert brush and thinned Ultramarine Blue ...
... to sketch leaf stems.
Use the filbert brush and various mixtures of Ultramarine Blue and Sap Green ...
... to paint pansy leaves with a series of short, tapered strokes.
Underpaint the flower with the 1/2" brush and thinned Mauve.
Add a tiny dot of Ultramarine Blue and Mauve just below the center of the flower …
… then use thinned Ultramarine Blue on the filbert brush to indicate petal placement. (Notice the horizontal petal line is below center.)
Load the 1/2" brush with Soft Titanium White and stroke the center back petal from the outside edge in towards the center of the flower.
Use the 1/2" brush and Soft Titanium White to overlap an additional, center back petal.
With Soft Titanium White on the 1/2" brush, add the two side petals ...
... starting at the outside edge and directing a series of overlapping strokes in towards the center of the flower.
With Soft Titanium White on the 1/2" brush, add the large lower petal with a series of overlapping strokes directed towards the center of the flower.
Add a dark purple mixture of Ultramarine Blue and Mauve to center of the flower.
Add Yellow to the center then use White to add ruffles and fold-overs with the 1/2" brush or the filbert brush. Sign your masterpiece with the liner brush.
